Leaves petiolate, 3-foliolate; leaflets elliptic or rhombic, 2.5–5.8 cm. long, 0.8–2 cm. wide, apically long-acute, glabrous or ciliolate; petiole 1–4 cm. long.. Inflorescence slender, 4–15 cm. long; bracts simple or 3-foliolate, subsessile, much smaller than the leaves.. Sepals linear-lanceolate, 3–4 mm. long, caudate, minutely glandular-ciliolate.. Petals 7–9 mm. long, pink, the upper pair with a white spot.. Stamens 7.. Gynophore 5–8 mm. long, usually shorter than the pedicel.. Capsules 4–5.5 cm. long, glabrous.. Seeds 1.25– 1.75 mm. in diameter, orange, with many irregular markedly cristate transverse ridges.. Fig. 2/11, p. 10.
