Characteristics

Annual to perennial herb, branched, erect to spreading, to 1 m high, glandular-pubescent, unarmed. Leaves 3–5-foliolate; petiole to 7 cm long; leaflets narrowly obovate to lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, acute, to 6 cm long, 1.5 cm wide; entire, glandular-pubescent, base mostly attenuate. Inflorescence a raceme, or flowers solitary in axils of upper leaves; flowers zygomorphic. Sepals linear to lanceolate, 1.5–2.5 cm long, glandular-pubescent. Petal 5–10 cm long, basally attenuate to clawed; claw c. ⅓ length of petal; lamina lanceolate, yellow. Stamens 5–7, filaments fused adaxially to gynophore up to base of ovary forming an androgynophore, then fused to each other unequally, free above, the free filaments 2–3 cm long; anthers revolute. Ovary glandular-pubescent. Siliqua linear, curved, spreading; 4–8 cm long, 2–3 mm wide, androgynophore curved, 4–7 cm long; valves slightly striate, strongly glandular-pubescent; style 2.5–5.5 cm long. Seeds ovoid to suborbicular, 1.5–2.5 mm long, transversely rugose; cleft open to closed with prominent aril.
