Characteristics

Annual or ephemeral herb, up to 15 cm high, glabrous, unarmed. Leaves radical, 3-foliolate, rarely simple; petiole to 6 cm long; leaflets obovate to suborbicular, rounded, to 14 mm long, entire, base cuneate; often pigmented below. Inflorescence of solitary leafless scapes to 10 cm long. Sepals ovate, to 2–2.5 mm long. Petals 6–14 mm long; claw 1–3 mm long; lamina obovate, pink or purple. Stamens 6–8, free, unequal, mostly shorter than petals; anthers 1–2 mm long, straight or slightly curved. Ovary sessile, glabrous. Siliqua linear to fusiform, erect, 1–5 cm long, 1.5–2.5 mm wide; valves scarcely striate, slightly constricted around seeds; style 3–10 mm long. Seeds orbicular, 0.7–1 mm wide, almost smoooth to tuberculate, cleft open, not arillate.
