Stem woody below, the branches brown and woody except towards the extremities, densely covered with short glandular hairs, glabrescent below.. Leaves petiolate, usually 5-foliolate; leaflets elliptic to obovate-elliptic, usually less than 7 mm. long, 2 mm. wide, rarely up to 15 mm. long, 5 mm. wide, rather densely glandular-hairy; petiole apparently persistent after the leaflets have fallen, 1–3 cm. long.. Inflorescence rather dense, 10–25 cm. long; bracts very small, subsessile, often 3-foliolate.. Sepals linear-lanceolate, 3.5–6 mm. long, glandular.. Petals 4–11 (–17) mm. long, pink or mauve, the upper pair yellow-spotted.. Stamens 7.. Gynophore 10–17 mm. long, longer than the pedicel.. Capsules 2.5–3.5 cm. long, densely glandular.. Seeds 1–1.25 mm. in diameter, with fine longitudinal striations and rather low, somewhat cristate, transverse ridges.. Fig. 2/9, p. 10.
