Tufted perennial.. Culms 12–25 cm. high, erect, somewhat fibrous at the base.. Leaf-blades flat, up to 6.5 cm. long and 2.5 mm. wide; ligule 2.5–5 mm. long.. Panicle ovate, 4–11 cm. long, the branches spreading.. Spikelets 1-flowered, narrowly elliptic, at length gaping, 2.5–3.5 mm. long, light green, the rhachilla not produced beyond the floret; glumes subequal, a little longer than the lemma, the lower narrowly elliptic and (1–)3-nerved, the upper lanceolate-elliptic and 3-nerved; lemma 2.4–3 mm. long, 3-nerved, appressedly pubescent, denticulately obtuse.
