Spikelets 2–3-flowered, the florets shortly exserted from the glumes; rhachilla-extension minute or crowned with an awn; glumes narrowly lanceolate, unequal, 1-nerved, acuminate and drawn out into a short awn-point; lemmas shorter than the glumes, rounded on the back, scarious-membranous, 3-nerved, hairy near the margins, entire or bilobed at the narrowed tip, the lobes short and with or without a short bristle, awned from the tip or from between the lobes; awn straight or curved but not twisted; palea as long as the lemma; callus obtuse.
