Characteristics

Perennial shrubs, lianes or scramblers; latex white. Roots fibrous. Leaves petiolate, coriaceous; colleters absent. Inflorescence of 1–many fascicles. Corolla salverform, campanulate or rotate; tube cylindrical-urceolate; lobes free at tips, imbricate. Annular corona absent or present; corolline corona comprising 5 free lobes opposite sinuses of adjacent petals or at top of corolla tube; gynostegial corona absent. Stamens free above. Anthers 4-locular with terminal appendage; pollen granular, aggregated in globular tetrads, loose on spoon-shaped, sticky translator. Style-head conical-pentagonal. Follicles widely divaricate, fusiform to fusiform-ovoid. Seeds flattened, oblong, comose at micropylar end.
