Characteristics

Spreading subshrub to 50 cm tall, with close, pale grey tomentum. Leaves cauline, oblong to narrowly elliptic, entire, tapering towards base, tomentose on both surfaces; lamina 11-60 mm long, 4-18 mm wide; petiole to 12 mm long. Flowers in leafless spikes and spike-like thyrses 6-20 cm long; bracteoles oblong-elliptic, to 1.5 mm long; pedicel to 1.5 mm long or obsolete. Sepals 0.5-1.2 mm long. Corolla 4-6 mm long; hairs outside much-branched, type i, pale grey; wings 0.5-0.6 mm wide, ±obsolete above auricle, with an appendage below auricle; calli obsolete. Ovary 2.5-3 mm long. Fruit obovoid, c. 2 mm long.
