Characteristics

Erect perennial to 40 cm tall, glabrous except flowers; stem 3-winged, 2-3 mm wide, ribbed on margins. Leaves sessile, narrowly oblong to spathulate, dentate; lamina 17-70 mm long, 6-19 mm wide. Flowers in panicles; inflorescence branches to 3 together, to 5-flowered, to 8 cm long; pedicel 4-11 mm long; bracteoles linear, to 4 mm long. Sepals glabrous, 0.8-1.2 mm long. Corolla 12-15 mm long; hairs outside appressed, type iv, dark grey or almost black; wings 3-4 mm wide, ±obsolete above auricle; calli obsolete. Ovary gibbous, tomentose but gibbous expansion glabrescent. Fruit orbicular, 3-4 mm diam, gibbous, compressed, glabrous, wrinkled.
