Characteristics

Perennial herb 25-35 cm tall, glabrous except flowers; stem flat, winged, slightly constricted at nodes, 6-8 mm wide, with a distinct midrib. Leaves sessile, triangular-ovate, scarcely narrowing at base, entire; lamina 10-16 mm long, 6-9 mm wide. Flowers usually in clusters of 3 in upper axils; pedicel 2.2-2.5 mm long; bracteoles oblong, 0.7-1.1 mm long. Sepals ovate-elliptic, glabrous, 0.5-0.7 mm long. Corolla 10-11 mm long; hairs outside appressed, type iv, brown-grey; wings 2.7-3.2 mm wide, smaller above auricle; calli to 3 per row. Ovary gibbous, 1.7-2 mm long; hairs similar to petals, but fewer. Fruit not seen.
