Characteristics

Erect perennial to 60 cm high, glabrescent except flowers; stems obscurely ribbed. Leaves sessile, linear-terete to lanceolate, entire, thick, glabrous or pubescent in patches; lamina 3-50 mm long, 1-20 mm wide. Flowers in cymo-panicles; inflorescence branches usually solitary, to 3-flowered, to 12 mm long; pedicel to 2 mm long; bracteoles oblong, to 3 mm long. Sepals almost obsolete. Corolla 15-20 mm long; hairs outside much-branched, type i, slate grey; wings 2-5 mm wide, smaller above auricle. Calli to 10. Ovary c. 3 mm long; ovule erect. Fruit cylindrical, to 7 mm long.
