Characteristics

Erect perennial to 1 m tall, whitish or grey-tomentose; stem often papillate. Leaves sessile, sometimes fasciculate in axils, linear to oblong, sometimes slightly revolute, entire or dentate, thick, glabrescent above, usually closely tomentose below, papillate; lamina 5-47 mm long, 2-26 mm wide. Flowers in cymo-panicles; inflorescence branches 1-3 together, 3-9-flowered, 3-16 mm long; pedicel 1-4 mm long; bracteoles mostly linear-oblong, 1-3 mm long. Sepals almost concealed beneath hairs, 0.3-0.5 mm long. Corolla 8-12 mm long; hairs outside woolly or silky, types i and ii, grey; wings 2-3.5 mm wide, ±equal; calli to 6 per row. Ovary c. 2 mm long; ovule erect. Fruit cylindrical, 4-5 mm long.
