Characteristics

Erect perennial to 60 cm tall, glabrescent except inflorescence; stems obscurely ribbed. Leaves sessile, sometimes in pseudowhorls, obovate to elliptic, entire to lobed; lamina 6-39 mm long, 2-17 mm wide. Flowers in cymo-panicles; inflorescence branches 1-6 together, 1-7-flowered, 13-47 mm long; pedicel 2-5 mm long; bracteoles linear to elliptic, 4-10 mm long, hairy or glabrescent. Sepals hidden by hairs, to 0.5 mm long. Corolla 10-15 mm long; hairs outside loose, silky, type ii, silvery-grey to almost black; wings 2-3.5 mm wide, usually smaller above auricle; calli 4-11 per row. Ovary c. 3 mm long; ovule erect. Fruit cylindrical, to 5 mm long.
