Stiff, erect perennial to 50 cm high, glabrous except inflorescence; stem with acute angles. Leaves sessile, lanceolate to elliptic, entire or dentate, thick; lamina 11-57 mm long, 5-32 mm wide. Flowers in cymes in upper axils; branches clustered, each 2-many-flowered, 3-15 mm long; pedicel 1-3 mm long; bracteoles oblong-elliptic, 1.5-2.5 mm long. Sepals obsolete. Corolla to 12 mm long; hairs outside loose, type iv, grey, brown or black; wings 2-2.5 mm wide, smaller above auricle; calli 2-6 per row. Ovary c. 2.5 mm long. Fruit not seen.
