Characteristics

Erect perennial to 60 cm tall, glabrescent; stem conspicuously ribbed. Leaves sessile, linear-terete to elliptic or spathulate, entire or with few teeth, thickened or slightly revolute at margin, thick, glabrous or whitish pubescent in patches, plants often seemingly leafless; lamina 3-56 mm long, 1-19 mm wide. Flowers in cymo-panicles; inflorescence branches mostly solitary, 2-3-flowered, 5-27 mm long; pedicel 1-6 mm long; bracteoles oblong to narrowly elliptic, 1.5-3 mm long. Sepals hidden by hairs, 0.3-0.7 mm long. Corolla 13-18 mm long; hairs outside loose, mostly type i, silvery-grey; wings 2-5 mm wide, smaller above auricle; calli usually 5-10 per row. Ovary 2-4.5 mm long; ovule erect. Fruit cylindrical to ovoid, to 7 mm long.
