Characteristics

Erect perennial to 60 cm tall, glabrous except inflorescence; stem bluntly triangular, grooved. Leaves sessile, oblong to elliptic, entire or dentate, thick; lamina 4-40 mm long, 2-12 mm wide. Flowers in cymo-panicles; inflorescence branches solitary or few together in axillary clusters, 1-3-flowered, very short, the flowers almost sessile in the axils; pedicel obsolete; bracteoles numerous, scarious, ovate-deltoid, brownish, concave, 2.5-3.5 mm long. Sepals obscured by hairs, to 0.5 mm long. Corolla 8-10 mm long; hairs outside loose, type iv or v, silvery; wings 2-2.5 mm wide, usually smaller above auricle; calli 1-3 per row. Ovary c. 2.5 mm long. Fruit to 5 mm long.
