Characteristics

Erect perennial to 1 m tall, tomentose to scabrid. Leaves sessile or shortly petiolate, obovate to elliptic, entire or dentate, glabrescent or scabrid above when mature, grey or golden-brown tomentose below; lamina 9-60 mm long, 5-42 mm wide. Flowers in panicles; inflorescence branches 5-23 mm long, usually brownish hairy, 2-9 together, each 3-5-flowered; bracteoles linear-oblong, 2-4 mm long; pedicel 1-3 mm long. Sepals obscured beneath hairs, to 0.5 mm long. Corolla 12-15 mm long; hairs outside loose, type i, usually dark grey; wings 1.5-2.5 mm wide, slightly smaller above auricle; calli 4-6 per row. Ovary 1.5-2.2 mm long; ovule oblong. Fruit obovoid, 4-5 mm long, ribbed beneath hairs.
