Characteristics

Erect, perennial herb 15 to 40 cm tall, with thick, tufted stock. Leaves basal, obovate or elliptic, crenulate, pale yellowish tomentose below, crenulate, glabrescent above, with conspicuous, long, white hairs in leaf axils; lamina 2.5-9.0 cm long, 12-41 mm wide; petiole to 6 cm long. Flowers in leafless, branched thyrses or racemes 2.2-4.5 cm long; scape to 40 cm tall; bracteoles linear-oblong, 2-7 mm long; pedicel 2-3 mm long. Sepals linear, 2-4.5 mm long, tomentose. Corolla to 7 mm long; hairs outside not appressed, type i, pale yellowish; wings 1-1.5 mm wide, smaller above auricle; calli obsolete. Ovary slightly oblique, 2-3 mm long. Fruit ovoid, c. 4 mm long.
