Characteristics

Leaf-lamina 4–10 (14) × 2–5 cm., elliptic or oblanceolate, glabrescent above (except for the midrib and lateral nerves which are pilose with long hairs), densely hispid-tomentose below, acuminate and mucronate at the apex, rounded at the base and often slightly asymmetric; lateral nerves c. 6–9 pairs, prominent below; stipules lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, c. 15 × 2 mm., ± persistent and with appressed hairs especially on the outside.

Cymes subsessile, few-flowered; bracts up to 5 mm. long, hairy; pedicels 2 mm. long, pilose.
Sepals c. 6 mm. long, free almost to the base, densely tomentose outside, glabrous within.
Ovary covered with very long white woolly hairs; style glabrescent, shortly 3-lobed.
Fruit 2–3-lobed, c. 2·5 cm. long, densely covered with long stiff hairs.
