Characteristics

Terrestrial ferns. Rhizome forming a single arborescent trunk, without scales, hairy; hairs uniseriate. Fronds large, arcuate or spreading in a crown. Stipes hairy at the base. Lamina 1–4-pinnate, monomorphic or dimorphic; venation free, forked. Sori borne on segment margins at the ends of veins; receptacle elongate, at right angles to the vein; sporangia enclosed by a membranous inner indusium and small reflexed lamina lobes (the outer indusium); paraphyses numerous, hair-like, uniseriate. Spores trilete.
