Characteristics

Trunk slender to massive, hairy towards the apex, bearing aerial roots, persistent stipes and an apical crown of large fronds. Fronds monomorphic or partially to wholly dimorphic, 1–c. 4 m long, in a spreading crown. Stipe decurrent on the trunk, smooth or rough, hairy at the base. Lamina 2–4-pinnate, thin-textured and soft to harsh and leathery; rachis and midribs of pinnules ridged adaxially; fertile pinnules more deeply lobed than the sterile pinnules. Sori globular; indusium cup-shaped.
