Lvs erect, 8–25 cm, covered with long, purple, glandular hairs, the blade not differentiated from the petiole; stipules adnate, fimbriate on the margins, forming matted brown wool at the base of the lvs; scape 6–22 cm, with 4–16 fls 1 cm wide; sep glandular hairy, 4–7 mm; pet purple, broadly ovate, erose at the tip; seeds black, 0.5–0.8 mm, ellipsoid, abruptly constricted near the ends, coarsely crateriform-pitted, the pits in 16–20 rows; 2n=20.
