Characteristics

Herb with tuber; vertical stolon to 12 cm long. Stem erect, simple, 5–10 cm long. Leaves cauline, dimorphic; lowermost whorled, linear, 4–6 mm long, fimbriate, not glandular except uppermost whorl with 1–4 glandular laminae; upper leaves 1, rarely 3, at each node, peltate, the lamina almost orbicular, 3–5 mm diam. on petiole 5–18 mm long. Inflorescence a simple or branched raceme, up to 7 cm long, 5–15– flowered; pedicels 2–4 mm long. Sepals ovate, acute, 4–5 mm long, glabrous. Petals broadly cuneate, 5–8 mm long, white. Style tripartite, each part of several erect, linear lobes and many horizontal lobes fused in lower half but free and upturned distally. Seeds many, ovoid, black.
