Characteristics

Tuberous herb; vertical stolon 15–30 cm long. Stem erect, to 1 m tall, with simple lateral branches, glabrous; main stem with many bract-like prophylls 5–8 mm long at base, sometimes also on lateral branches. Leaves only on lateral branches, scattered; lamina broadly crescentic, 4–6 mm wide, the angles acute, peltate, on slender slightly dilated petioles 10–15 mm long. Inflorescences paniculate, terminal and on upper branches; pedicels 3–8 mm long. Sepals ovate, acute, 3–4 mm long, entire or irregularly dentate, glabrous. Petals obovate-orbicular, 5–7 mm long, white. Styles 3, 0.5–0.8 mm long, divided into many short, thick segments.
