Characteristics

Herb with fibrous roots. Rhizome thick, branched, corky. Leaves in a flat rosette, linear-spathulate, the lamina 15–20 mm long, narrowed to petiole 5–20 mm long; stipules adnate to petiole, laciniate, 2.5–3 mm long. Scape 1, 30–40 cm long, glandular, 4–12-flowered, the inflorescence circinnate when young; pedicels 3–8 mm long. Calyx 6–9 mm long, glandular, deeply divided into ovate lobes. Petals almost orbicular, 8–10 mm diam., bright pink or red-purple. Styles united for 3–3.5 mm, then divided into 3 segments 1–1.5 mm long; stigmas papillose.
