Herb with tuber, vertical stolon 5–8 cm long. Stem erect or scrambling, 12–60 cm long, glabrous; lowest part with subulate prophylls. Leaves usually in groups of 3; lamina orbicular to slightly reniform, concave, 3–4 mm diam., on slender, deflexed petiole, the primary petiole 30–40 mm long, the secondary 5–8 mm long. Inflorescence a panicle, 2–6-flowered; pedicels 3–12 mm long. Sepals ovate-elliptic, 5–9 mm long, fimbriate, pubescent. Petals broadly obovate, 10–15 mm long, usually red; sometimes pink, or white ageing pink. Styles 3, divided from base into many, rarely-branched slender segments.
