Characteristics

Acaulescent herb forming a rosette, no more than 2 cm tall. Leaves oblanceolate (cuneate), 10-30 mm long, petiole grading into blade, indistinct; stipules 2-4 mm long, 5-7-partite. Inflorescences (1-)2-3(-5) per plant, 5-25 cm long, (3-)5-10(-15)-flowered; peduncle erect, 6-25 cm long, glabrous or with few glandular hairs. Flowers with sepals ovate or narrowly ovate, joined at base, 4-6 x 2 mm, margin entire or with glandular hairs, with glandular hairs outside; petals pink, obovate or spathulate, 5 mm long; stamens 4-4.5 mm long; pollen tetrad 55-65 µm diameter, spines and spinules well defined, spine 1.5 µm long, 15.5-20.5 µm2; ovary with 5 simple styles. Seeds reticulate, subglobose, 0.3-0.5 mm long, wax not evident.
