Characteristics

Leaves with lamina yellowish-green to grey-green above, greyish beneath, 4–8 × 1·7–3·5 cm., oblong to elliptic or oblanceolate, obtuse to rounded at the apex, with margin obtusely glandular-denticulate to subentire, cuneate to angustate at the base, coriaceous, with densely reticulate venation more prominent above than below; petiole 3–10 mm. long.

Cymes in axil of foliage leaves; peduncle 8–12 mm. long; flowers c. 20–25 in each dichasium, c. 3·5 mm. in diam., in subglobose clusters, bisexual.
Shrub 1·5–4 m. high; branches 4-lined and vinous red when young, becoming terete and ± glaucous with whitish lenticels and eventually whitish.
Drupe orange, drying dark red, 15–20 mm. long, subglobose to obovoid, smooth.
Petals 5, greenish, c. 1 mm. long, elliptic-oblong, with margin paler entire.
Ovary 3-locular, broadly ovoid-conic, c. 2/3-immersed in the disk.
Disk slightly 5-angled, patelliform, finely papillose.
