Shrub or small tree to 6 m. high, much branched; bark grey, rough; branches 4-lined and pale grey when young, becoming terete and red-brown to grey-brown or whitish with prominent lenticels.. Leaves with lamina yellowish green, often ± glaucous, concolorous, subcircular to oblong or oblanceolate, 2–7 × 0.9–4.5 cm., obtuse or apiculate to rounded at the apex, with margin recurved, entire or rarely with up to 10 spreading spinulose glandular teeth, cuneate to attenuate or rarely rounded at the base, coriaceous, with relatively laxly reticulate venation equally prominent on both sides or more so beneath than above; petiole 2–10 mm. long.. Cymes in axils of bracts on specialised shoots 5–20 mm. long arising from axils of bract-like prophylls or lowermost foliage leaves on current shoots, forming up to 20-flowered paniculate inflorescences or often reduced to 1–3-flowered pseudocymes; peduncle (of cymes) absent or up to ± 2 mm. long; pedicels up to 2 mm. long or almost absent, angular, articulated at the base; flowers 1–4 in each cyme, 2.5–3.5 mm. in diameter, unisexual (plants dioecious).. Sepals 4, equal, oblate-semicircular, rounded, ± 0.7 mm. long, with margin entire or subentire..
