Inflorescence branches spreading, with many spikelets, either appressed to branches or spreading; spikelets dark olive-green, rhachilla persistent, lemmas and/or paleas breaking up from base upwards; lemma acute, lateral nerves conspicuous; palea keels entire, scabrid; anthers 3, 0.7-1.0 mm long. Caryopsis ellipsoid.
