Tree or shrub to 4 In tall; twigs flat, drying striate, reddish brown, soon terete and displaying numerous lenticels. Leaves elliptic, to 15 cm long, mostly narrow, apically short acuminate or acute, basally acute or obtuse, chartaceous, the margins not revolute, the midvein prominent beneath, flanked by two prom-inent, continuous lines on the undersides, the minor venation obscure except between the longitudinal lines; petioles ca. 3 mm long, slender, drying reddish brown; stipules minute, 1 mm long, chartaceous-scarious, sometimes deciduous, often associated with rudamentary leaves. Inflorescences scattered, few-flowered
