Shrub (1) 1·5–3 (5) m. high, much branched, evergreen, glabrous; branches slender, red or blackish, scarcely flattened and angular with raised lines decurrent from the petiole bases when young, becoming terete and brown; bark smooth, finely vertically fissured, pale grey-brown.
Short-styled flowers: stamens equal, 2·5 mm. long; stamen-cup equal to the sepals, with 10-crenulate margin; ovary c. 1 mm. long, as long as the stamen-cup, cylindric; styles 3, 1–2·5 mm. long, united at the base.
Long-styled flowers: stamens unequal, the antisepalous 1·75 mm. and antipetalous 2·5 mm. long; stamen-cup as above; styles 3, 2·75–3 mm. long, united in the lower half.
Petals white, 2–2·5 mm. long, oblong, rounded at the apex, shortly unguiculate; ligule c. 1 mm. long, with eroded margin, inserted 1/4 of the length above the base.
Sepals 0·75–1·5 mm. long, triangular, acute, united for c. 1/2 their length.
Flowers solitary, axillary; peduncle 2–5 mm. long, slender, angular.
Drupe 6–7·5 mm. long, red, obliquely ovoid.
