Leaves in spirals, sometimes tending to subopposite; lamina ± coriaceous, obovate to elliptic, or sometimes oblong, 1.5–7 × 0.8–3.5(–4.5) cm., apex rounded to obtuse, sometimes very shortly and bluntly acuminate or emarginate, base rounded to cordulate or obtuse, margin entire; both surfaces glabrous; lateral veins (3–)5–8 pairs, midrib not reaching the apex of the lamina, tertiary venation reticulate or parallel to the lateral veins; petiole 0.2–1(–1.5) cm. long, 1–1.5 mm. thick, glabrous; stipules 0.2–0.6(–0.9) cm. long, sparsely puberulous or only ciliolate, often subpersistent..
