Tree up to 30(–40) m. tall, with tall trunk, often with buttresses, main branches ascending.. Leafy twigs 3–8 mm. thick, densely minutely white puberulous and with much longer white to dark brown hairs, especially on the nodes, periderm flaking off when dry.. Lamina chartaceous to subcoriaceous, subcircular to subcordiform, elliptic or sometimes obovate, 6–17 × 4–15 cm., apex shortly acuminate to acute, base cordate, sometimes truncate, margin entire or crenate, upper surface scabridulous to scabrous, sparsely brownish hirtellous to hirsute on the main veins, lower surface puberulous to hirtellous, on the main veins often densely puberulous and with long white to dark brown hairs with an echinate base; lateral veins 3–6 pairs; petiole (1–)2–9 cm. long, 1–2 mm. thick, densely minutely white puberulous and with much longer white to dark brown hairs with an echinate base, epiderm flaking off when dry; stipules 1–2 cm. long, puberulous to subsericeous, caducous.. Figs on branched leafless branchlets up to 30 cm. long on the main and lesser branches or also on the trunk; peduncle 1–2.5 cm. long, 1–2 mm. thick; basal bracts 3–5 mm. long.. Receptacle ± depressed globose to obovoid, 2.5–4 cm. in diameter when fresh, 2–3 cm. when dry, ± densely puberulous, red to dark orange at maturity.
