Characteristics

Large tree, or shrub, hemi-epiphytic (and strangling).. Leafy twigs 2.5–6 mm. thick, almost glabrous, periderm not flaking off.. Leaves in spirals; lamina coriaceous, oblong to elliptic or subovate, 9–18 × 3.5–6 cm., apex acuminate, base acute to obtuse, sometimes subcordate, margin entire; both surfaces glabrous; lateral veins 8–14 pairs, tertiary venation reticulate; petiole 2–5 cm. long, 1.5–2 mm. thick; stipules ±1.5 cm. long, yellowish appressed puberulous or glabrous, caducous.. Figs in pairs in the leaf-axils, sometimes also just below the leaves, sessile; basal bracts ± 4 mm. long, persistent.. Receptacle subglobose to ellipsoid or ovoid, ± 2 cm. in diameter when fresh, ±1.5 cm. when dry, almost glabrous, ± waited, orange to yellow at maturity.
