Characteristics

Tree up to 10 m. tall or a shrub, hemi-epiphytic.. Leafy twigs 8–10 mm. thick, ± densely white strigose to puberulous, periderm flaking off when dry.. Leaves in spirals; lamina coriaceous, oblong to subovate, sometimes subpandurate, 19–26(–45) × 8–13(–17) cm., apex acuminate, base obtuse to subcordate, sometimes cordate, margin entire; upper surface glabrous, lower surface glabrous or white to brownish hirtellous on the lower part of the midrib; lateral veins 6–8(–9) pairs; tertiary venation ± reticulate; petiole 2.5–8.5 cm. long, ± 4 mm. thick, epiderm flaking off when dry; stipules ± 2 cm. long, free or basally connate, glabrous or sometimes white strigillose, persistent.. Figs 1–2 in the leaf-axils, sessile or subsessile; basal bracts ± 5 mm. long, persistent.. Receptacle globose, 2.5–5 cm. in diameter when fresh, 2–3 cm. when dry, rather densely yellowish to white strigillose to hirtellous, ± pronouncedly waited, at maturity greenish with yellowish spots; wall ± 3–5 mm. thick when dry; apex protruding up to 5 mm.
