Much-branched tree to 13 m high; twigs puberulous. Leaves alternate; lamina ovate to lanceolate or elliptic, (2.7–) 8–12 (–14.3) cm long, (1–) 3–7 cm wide, cordate, obtuse or cuneate to rounded at base, entire margin, obtuse, acute or acuminate at apex, thinly coriaceous or coriaceous, glabrous or mealy to puberulous below; lateral veins 8–12 pairs (16–49 pairs, fide Dixon 2011: 18), indistinct; petiole (0.7–) 3–8 cm long, puberulous to pilose, soon glabrous; stipules c. 2–6.5 cm long, puberulous, soon glabrous. Figs axillary, ± globular, 0.9–2.3 cm diam. (narrowly to broadly obloid, spheroid or broadly ellipsoid, 1–2.4 cm long, 0.9–2.3 cm diam., fide Dixon 2011: 18), yellow-green, yellow, orange or red, softly puberulous, soon glabrous; ostiole mammilate, 3 mm diam.; basal bracts 3, caducous; peduncle 0.3–2.7 cm long, distal end dilated, softly puberulous to pilose or glabrous. Often grows in crevices of sandstone rocks and cliffs; usually rocky soil and situations; deciduous scrub, monsoon forest, rocky open woodland.
