Characteristics

Tree or shrub, hemi-epiphytic.. Leafy twigs 10–20 mm. thick, glabrous or brownish puberulous, periderm not flaking off.. Leaves in spirals; lamina coriaceous, lanceolate to oblong or subobovate, often ± pandurate, (15–)25-60 × 6–25 cm., apex acuminate to subacute, base acute or sometimes subattenuate and cordulate, margin entire; both surfaces glabrous; lateral veins 8–14 pairs, tertiary venation partly scalariform; petiole 1.5–8 cm. long, 4–10 mm. thick, epiderm not flaking off; stipules 0.3–1 cm. long, glabrous, caducous.. Figs 1–2 in the leaf-axils, sessile; basal bracts 4–10 mm. long, persistent.. Receptacle globose to somewhat depressed-globose, 2.5–4 cm. in diameter when dry, yellow hirtellous to strigillose; wall 1–1.5 mm. thick when dry, wrinkled.
