Characteristics

Panicles or racemes terminal; bracts and bracteoles small, soon deciduous. Flowers with the vexillum mostly suborbicular, auriculate at the base, the claw abrupt, short; wing and carinal petals similar, transversely gibbous and auriculate near the base, conspicuously clawed; stamens usually monadelphous, the anthers versatile; ovary stipitate, ob-long, the style cylindrical, the stigma small, capitate. Fruits drupaceous, ovoid, the endocarp woody, indehiscent, the seed solitary.
