Characteristics

Slender ascending or procumbent herb 17–40 cm tall. Stems smooth or weakly 4-ribbed, strigose. Leaves decussate, ovate, acute, rounded or subcordate basally, glabrous or strigose; lamina 0.6–1 mm long; margins thickened, with 4–6 small teeth; petiole 0.5–1 mm long. Bracts alternate, ovate, 1.8–2.5 mm long, entire, green, margins thickened; bracteoles ovate, 0.4 mm long, entire, brown. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel 0.3–0.4 mm long. Sepals ovate-deltoid, 0.5–0.6 mm long, green to grey, truncate and saccate basally; margins thickened. Petals 0.8–1.5 mm long, reddish. Stamens 8; anthers 0.4–0.8 mm long. Ovary with 8 smooth or minutely tuberculate ribs, silvery grey to whitish. Fruit shortly cylindrical, 0.8–1.1 mm long, white to silvery grey.
