Characteristics

Straggling shrub. Stems 4-angled, profusely branched, sparsely strigose. Leaves opposite, widely spaced, ovate; lamina 4–5 mm long; margins thickened, minutely 4–6-toothed; petiole 0.4–0.5 mm long. Bracts alternate, as for leaves but smaller; bracteoles lanceolate to trifid, 0.5 mm long, reddish brown. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel 0.2 mm long. Sepals ovate to deltoid, 0.6 mm long; margins thickened; basal callus. Petals 1.8–2.1 mm long, deep reddish purple. Stamens 8; anthers 1.4–1.5 mm long. Ovary ±smooth, strigose, deep reddish purple. Fruit narrowly ovoid, 1 mm long, 8-ribbed, smooth or with 1 or 2 small calluses between ribs, dark silvery grey.
