Characteristics

Semi-woody subshrub 10–15 cm tall. Stems smooth, strigose. Leaves alternate, erect, densely imbricate below, terete, acute, moderately densely pilose; lamina 4–7.5 mm long. Inflorescence nodding; bracts linear-lanceolate, 2.5–3 mm long, entire, green; bracteoles linear, 0.5–0.7 mm long, entire, red. Flowers 4-merous, pendent; pedicels 0.4–0.5 mm long. Sepals lanceolate, 1.25 mm long, thick, semi-spreading, olive-green. Petals 2.2 mm long, red. Stamens 8; anthers 1.5 mm long. Ovary densely pilose with white to brownish hairs, dark grey. Fruit densely pilose; sepals persistent and spreading at 45°.
