Characteristics

Weak annual herb to 40 cm tall. Stems tangled, strigose. Leaves distant, decussate, sessile, ovate to orbicular, thin, coarsely serrate with 7–9 teeth, strigose; lamina 6–11 mm long. Bracts linear to narrowly deltoid, 1.1–1.4 mm long, entire, green, margins thickened; bracteoles linear to narrowly lanceolate, entire, green, margins thickened. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel 0.1 mm long. Sepals deltoid, 0.5–0.7 mm long, acute, saccate basally, green; margins thickened. Petals 0.9–1.3 mm long, green. Stamens 8; anthers 0.5–0.8 mm long. Ovary 8-ribbed with 3 transverse rows of calluses centred on ribs opposite petals, glabrous, silver-grey. Fruit cylindrical to obovoid, silver-grey.
