Characteristics

Erect subshrub 35–100 cm tall. Stems smooth or 4-ribbed, spreading-pilose. Leaves opposite or in whorls of 3, alternate or subopposite above, linear-oblong, serrate with 20–30 teeth; lamina 1.5–2.5 cm long; petiole 1–2 mm long. Bracts alternate, lanceolate, 2.7–3.5 mm long, entire; bracteoles narrowly lanceolate, 0.7–0.9 mm long, serrate towards base, brown. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel 0.4–0.5 mm long. Sepals oblong, 0.4–0.5 mm long, green; margins thickened; small basal callus. Petals 1.6–2.2 mm long, greenish. Stamens 8; anthers 2–2.1 mm long. Ovary 8-ribbed, 2 or 3 calluses between ribs, glabrous or scabrous, silver-grey. Fruit 1–1.2 mm long, silver-grey to reddish; pedicel 0.5 mm long.
