Characteristics

Prostrate annual herb to 5 cm tall. Stems weakly 4-ribbed, glabrous. Leaves opposite at base, alternate above, linear to linear-lanceolate, coriaceous, glabrous; lamina 0.7–0.8 cm long. Bracts alternate, lanceolate to ovate, 2–2.5 mm long, coriaceous, green; bracteoles lanceolate, 0.5–1.2 mm long, often deciduous, green. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel 0.1–0.2 mm long. Sepals deltoid, 0.3 mm long, subsaccate basally; margins thickened. Petals 0.9–1 mm long, yellow to reddish. Stamens 8; anthers 0.5–0.6 mm long. Ovary 8-ribbed, scabrous particularly on ribs and lower parts, silver-grey. Fruit ovoid to globular, 0.8 mm long, 8-ribbed, scabrous, grey; pedicel 0.2–0.3 mm long.
