Characteristics

Erect herb to 15 cm tall. Stems smooth, densely pilose. Leaves decussate, ovate, densely pilose; lamina 0.9–1.3 mm long; margins thickened, with 12–16 short teeth; petiole 1–3 mm long. Bracts alternate, narrowly ovate to lanceolate, 3–5.5 mm long, entire, green; bracteoles trifid, 0.6 mm long, brown. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel 0.5–0.6 mm long. Sepals ovate, 0.8 mm long, olive-green; margins shortly ciliate; basal callus very small. Petals 2.1–2.2 mm long, deep red. Stamens 8; anthers 1.5–1.8 mm long. Ovary verrucose below, 8-ribbed on neck, densely and minutely scabrous, silver-grey. Fruit obpyriform, 1–1.2 mm long; pedicel 0.5 mm long.
