Erect subshrub 15–30 cm tall. Stems smooth, densely pilose. Leaves decussate, sessile, oblanceolate, densely pilose; lamina 0.8–1 cm long; margins thickened, with 6–8 short teeth, white. Bracts alternate, lanceolate, c. 3–4 mm long, entire; bracteoles linear to linear-oblanceolate, 0.5–0.7 mm long, entire, red-brown. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel 0.5–0.7 mm long. Sepals ovate to ovate-deltoid, 0.5–0.7 mm long, green; margins thickened; weak basal callus. Petals c. 2.1–2.2 mm long, dark red. Stamens 8; anthers 0.9–1.5 mm long. Ovary weakly 8-ribbed, glabrous to pilose at base and on ribs, dark purple-grey. Fruit ovoid to globular, 0.8–1.3 mm long; pedicel 0.2 mm long.
