Characteristics

Erect or ascending perennial herb 15–40 cm tall. Stems smooth, glabrous or sparsely strigose. Leaves decussate, linear to terete, entire or minutely 6–8-toothed near tip, glabrous or strigose; lamina 0.6–1.5 cm long. Bracts decussate, linear, 2–5.5 mm long, entire; bracteoles fleshy, linear, 1.3–2.5 mm long. Flowers 4-merous; pedicel 0.2–0.3 mm long. Sepals lanceolate-deltoid, 0.6–0.9 mm long, ±smooth, green or reddish; margins thickened. Petals 2.5–2.8 mm long, red-brown to yellowish. Stamens 8; anthers 1.7–2.1 mm long. Ovary weakly 8-ribbed, sometimes with 2 or 3 weak calluses between, scabrous on ribs, green to red-grey. Fruit 1.2–1.3 mm long, silver-grey.
