Leaves decussate, ovate to oblong; lamina 1.7–2.5 cm long; margins thickened, serrate with 10–14 teeth; petiole 2–4 mm long. Bracts decussate, leaflike, subopposite above; bracteoles ovate, 1–1.3 mm long, acuminate, entire, green to brown. Flowers 4-merous, sessile. Sepals narrowly ovate, 0.9–1 mm long, acute; margins thickened. Petals 2.8–3.4 mm long, reddish. Stamens 8; anthers 2.3–2.6 mm long. Ovary irregularly verrucose or 8-ribbed with lateral calluses; ovule 1 per locule. Fruit 1–1.3 mm long, scabrous, green to silver-grey.
