Characteristics

Cushion-like, annual herb, small, glabrescent. Leaves all basal, linear-lanceolate, entire; lamina to 8 cm long and 3 mm wide. Inflorescence with flowers sessile in leaf axils and thus in a head at ground level. Sepals linear, c. 0.5 mm long. Corolla 1-1.5 mm long, almost glabrous inside, without enations; lobes ±equal, to 1 mm long; wings obsolete. Indusium broadly elliptic, c. 0.2 mm wide. Ovules 30-40. Fruit ellipsoidal, 3 mm long. Seeds orbicular, c. 0.2 mm diam., verrucose, reddish brown with a paler border.
